Poker Hands – everything you know about various poker hands
Winning poker hands are determined by rank, and certain combinations of cards are a Value added so that one can measure one side against another in order to decide the winner. For example, a straight flush is always a full house beat.
All suits (Hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades) are of equal rank in poker, as the cards themselves are ordered (in descending order) as an Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2
The following is a detailed list of the rankings in poker from the best to the worst hand.
1. Five of a Kind
A Five of a Kind is the highest possible poker hands when wild cards (jokers or any other card, such as two, as "wild" are nominated) used and will consist of five cards of same rank. If more than one player reaches a five of a kind, the higher value card wins, so 5 Aces beats five Tens, the 5 Sevens lost and so on. Used only in playing the wild cards.
2. Royal Flush
A Royal Flush is the best natural poker hand possible that is, without a wildcard. It consists of a AKDB-10 of the same color.
3. Straight Flush
A straight line is a sequence of five Cards in order as 4-5-6-7-8 and a flush is five cards of the same color. The combination of the two terms means that a Straight Flush Five cards in sequence is all of the same color.
For example, an eight-high straight flush 8-7-6-5-4 would all be of one color, say Hearts. With a straight, an ace used low be, for example, A-2-3-4 to 5 of clubs.
A straight (either a flush or not) can not round the Ace, as QCA wrap-2-3.
4. Four of a child
This hand is just made of four cards of same rank regardless of the color. If two or more hands that come with the hand the higher ranking four of a kind wins – not the hand with the highest odd card. For example, a hand 3-9-9-9-9 would beat 5-5-5-5-K.
5. Full House
This hand consists of a kind combined with a pair such as 6-6-QQQ. The relative ratings are through the first rank of the Three of a Kind determined then by the pair. For example, proposes a 2-2-JJJ (three boys), an 8-8-8-KK (three 8's).
6th Flush
A flush is a hand where all cards of the same color, for example, 2-5-7-9-K of the club.
If it is bound two (or more), rinsed, the higher card wins. If this a tie, then the next card is determined, and so on. In this way, proposes 2-3-9-JK of Hearts 5-6-8-JK of Spades.
7. Straight
A straight consists of five cards of any suit in sequential order, such as 7-8-9-10-J. An Ace can be high or low, but can not wrap as QCA-2-3.
If two players have a straight, the hand with the higher ranking high card wins. In this way, 8-9-10-JQ beats 4-5-6-7-8. If two straights have the same high card value have split the pot.
8. Three of a Kind
This hand consists of three cards that have the same rank as 2-4-6-6-6. If more than one player holds Three of a Kind, the rank of the three matched cards determines the winner, so 9-9-9-QK (three 9's) would lose against 2-4-JJJ (three boys).
9. Two pairs
The hand made two pair consists of two separate pairs of cards of equal rank and a 5th Card of another rank, as 2-6-6-9-9. If two (or more) players have two pairs, have the highest pair wins. If both pairs are equal, then the highest remaining pair determines the Winner. If both pairs equal, then the unpaired card determines the winner. For example, 7-8-8-JJ beat 7-8-8-9-9, 2-6-6-JJ and also 3-8-8-JJ.
10. Pair
A pair is dealt two cards of same rank with three other different cards, such as 9-9-6-4-2. If tied, the higher pair wins. If both pairs of the same are the highest remaining card wins – except the last card if necessary. For Example 6-8 beats KK-9-2-5-7-KK, and 3-5-6-9-9 2-5-6-9-9 beats.
11. High Card
High Card is a hand with any combination that does not qualify as one of the top poker hands. That is, if nobody has a Pair or better, then the highest card wins. In this way, suggests A-7-6-4-2 KDB-9-7 and Q-8-7-6-4 beats Q-8-7-6-2.
