How to improve my poker game?

I’ve been playing consistantly for about a year now. I was wondering what the best way to take the game to the next level is? Its hard for me to grasp studying poker, i was a very advanced chess player for a time and that was mostly book study, but poker seems different. Is it constantly analyzing your game and improving leaks? Or is is reading books and finding out as much information as you can?

I suggest playing against your cat. Cats have the best poker faces! You can never tell if they are holding A♥, A♠ or 2♦, 7♣. It’s very difficult to bluff a cat. I told the cat that we sold her to gypsies and her expression still didn’t change!

I don’t suggest purchasing a poker book. If you are like me, you can’t afford a poker book thanks to all the gambling debt that you owe Fluffy.
