Chronicle of an online poker player – Part Nine

Author: J. Scott Miller

Call or check raise? "

As I sat there on the table at the Luxor in Las Vegas, repeated the distributors of their question to me, as I looked into the abyss. "Sir? Call, check or raise?" I waited a moment, and then I snapped out of my trance. I folded my cards and tried my best to concentrate. I mean, I had flown in earlier in the day and had now for 16 hours.

If we play poker online, we do have the luxury of "unsubscribe" and what we choose to do otherwise in our lives. You could go back to bed if you want. I choose to work and earn money so I can "play" online poker and more "learning" the game.

I can not tell you how many times I have "sub-standard" had cards, and have been on the Big Blind, and get raised at the last moment before the flop. Damn, I really want to see flop but now I have to pay more to see them. Or do I? For the sake of argument, I have J-5 of spades. The man before me is the pot with a dollar. But I say: "It could be a pair of fives in there! Or maybe there are a number of spades?"

Now we want to screw our heads on right and in this realistic view, and more importantly, "logical". The logic is pretty much what this game is all about, right? If you are not in their own minds reason, and make sense of what should be a right decision, then you should be mowing lawns for a living, not wasting money at online poker.

If you on the small or big blind and someone raises and you call? It's like raising them first. It's almost as if there is a reverse charge, if you like it, I look choose to do. I have this fantastic J-5 of spades, and raised. When I went along the increase, then why have not only the increase in first Line, if I liked the hand as well? Fold, fold, fold, that mediocre hand at a time!

Let's talk about the increase for a moment. As I write this, I'm actually playing poker at Intertops.com now! I actually do a lot. Right now I'm going to stop writing and play a Hand. I am currently in a .10/.20 euro area. Euros are worth about 25% more than the dollar right now, so there is a slight difference in betting. I have a hand where I was on the Big Blind and Q-5 was moved to the heart. There were 4 people in the hand and the flop came KK-4. The first two players checked, and then the players in front of me bet € 1.20. I waited a moment and then lifted it. He folded quickly. You see, all I did was testing him. Call it a bluff, but I prefer to "test". Had he re-raised me by 5, I would fold. You have half of the time people are just figure trying to "buy the pot." A simple bet or raise with a pair on the flop will immediately contact you when say that. In this case it was for me. But who knows? Maybe next time the same person KQ has a lurking underneath.

"Call, raise or fold?" It's a bit like playing golf. You are at this point in a game where you either "lay up" or "green for the ! Go "I have always said," If you do not play cards, and "Raising Hell" They're not playing cards! See you at the tables.
