Freeride snowboards make a large part of the market because they are the ideal choice for all-rounder.

Jeremy Jones (born January 14, 1975) is a former snowboard racer now regarded as a pioneer of professional big mountain riding. His style is a groundbreaking Influence on the modern big mountain freeriding.
Travis Rice (born October 9, 1982) is considered aul Revere of Big Mountain Freestyle movement. More widely known for his success in the realm of freestyle snowboarding contest his ability, his abilities to adapt to extreme terrain gave him legendary status in the backcountry circles as well.
Competition
As the original ethos was free riding, from (among others) the restrictive boundaries of the ski competition, it is somewhat ironic that freeride competitions are surging in popularity on the international stage. However, these competitions mirror the sport, even in their random variable formats, and the fact that usually there is no set price, and very little (if any) to follow rules.
